Grace Medical and Dental Clinic-Haiti

Thanks so much for your prayers for James as he was in Haiti this last week at Grace Medical/Dental Clinic - a ministry of Healing Haiti.

All flights were on time (even early!), and 4 pieces of luggage arrived with him. The customs officers were a little more interested than usual in the contents of the luggage, but after detaining him for a few minutes and looking through each piece, they finally released him to his waiting hosts.

The clinic, which is part of Grace Village is a fairly new facility. It is bright, clean, and well maintained. He had the luxury of 24 hour electricity provided by 2 on-site generators. This not only provided stable power for the lab, but also allowed him to have a fan in his room at night time. It was a very hot and humid week in that part of Haiti, and unusually dry for this time of year. The rain has not been good so far this summer.

Every installation brings it unique challenges. This time, he was missing a small, but essential part of an analyzer that had been donated to the clinic from another source. Without this part, the other parts that he brought could not be used. He prayed that God would provide - and He did!
Last year at this very same time, he was at another clinic less than a mile away. He remembered that they had 2
extra, non-functioning instruments that had the part he needed. He went over to them and asked if they could have this part. It seemed like a simple request to us, but it turned out to be quite a challenge to finally get the piece released. Hopefully, some lessons in sharing and cooperation between organizations were learned!
He  was able to proceed with the installation and training, as planned at Grace.

The next day,he had a call from the organization next door concerning a problem with one of their lab instruments. He was able to go back again and make a simple adjustment to get them going again. We pray that this simple act of kindness will encourage them to share and cooperate with other organizations in the future.
